Good Afternoon Vikings!

Twelve members of the Winthrop High School Student Council Executive board including advisers Jen Rowley and Dan Curran, made their way to the College of The Holy Cross, in Worcester, MA on October 20th . This event was hosted by the Massachusetts Association of Student Councils (MASC) which includes Winthrop’s very own Hunter Gillis, MASC Vice President.

The MASC Officershop is a day-long conference designed to train Student Council Officers in their positions and teach students valuable leadership skills. “Kindness for Colleen”

Good afternoon Viking Nation,

On Friday, October 21st Winthrop High School Student Council is holding a “Kindness For Colleen” day in remembrance for Danvers educator, Colleen Ritzer. This is the third year that WHS is expressing their gratitude and respect for this tragedy.

Students will be given the opportunity to send candy grams to teachers in Winthrop High School to express gratefulness towards the continuous dedication and hard work that they prove every day. We believe that it is important to show our condolences because life is unpredictable and spreading love makes the world go round. We also want to recognize the qualities that Ritzer embodied and her passion that she had for educating students.

With gratitude,

Winthrop High School, Student Council Executive Board

One Month Down, Nine to Go

Congratulations Viking Nation,

You have officially made it through the toughest part of school (other than exam weeks), month one! As the leaves start drifting through the sky and begin to discolor, summertime sadness officially has begun kicking in… Although the stigma of school is usually negative, Student Council has implemented a new type of pep rally for the end of every month.

You may have been a little petrified by the enthusiasm of some when you entered the doors on Friday, September 30th but I promise you, it is all GOOD INTENTIONS. Expect Stuco to be there the last Friday of every month to celebrate the completion and accomplishment of the months past. On Friday, October 28th we will be holding a “Breast Cancer Awareness” day as well as the rally at the beginning of school. Our plans is to decorate the front hall in all pink and be accepting donations for a Breast Cancer Fund.

We are so proud of all students here at the new WHS and we plan to continue this streak of happiness and service for all of you. We bleed blue and gold.
